UNITY001 refurbishes donated laptops, installs Linux Mint, and gives them free to neighbors who need one, as supplies allow.
A working computer opens doors: school assignments, job applications, telehealth visits, and staying in touch with family. If you or someone in your household needs one, ask. That's what the program is for.

Laptops come from donations, so supply varies and we can't promise a timeline. Every request stays on the list until we can fill it.
Every laptop comes with Linux Mint
Linux Mint comes pre-installed on every laptop we give out, so yours is ready to use the day you get it.
Linux Mint is a free operating system. If you've used Windows, you'll find your way around.
A few things do look different. We set each laptop up to be simple from the first click, and we help you get comfortable with it.
- Apps included
- Firefox for the web and video calls, Thunderbird for email, and LibreOffice for documents and spreadsheets. LibreOffice opens and saves Microsoft Word and Excel files.
- Safe and private
- Free security updates arrive through the Update Manager, and common viruses are far less of a worry. Linux Mint doesn't collect your data.
- Free, now and later
- No licenses and no subscriptions. Need another app? The Software Manager has thousands of free ones.
